Removing Student Barriers: Unveiling the HUB and Spoke Model at VCCS

Presenter: Stephanie English, Virginia Community College System

The Virginia Community College System is made up of 23 community colleges with over 40+ campuses. Each college is independently accredited and offers programs that are tailored to meet the needs of their respective service areas. As part of our strategic plan, a Student Onboarding Redesign taskforce was created to address barriers to community college student onboarding. The task force recommendations are intended to remove onboarding barriers, expedite the enrollment process, and assist students in navigating the next steps required for the student to explore our programs, enroll in class, and pay. Through the implementation of a HUB and Spoke model in Salesforce with a common data model for all of our colleges, we have been able to create a one-door approach for all prospect students. In this session, we will give an overview of our system design, integrations, and project status to date.
