Presenting student results and progress to Academic staff: The challenge and our solution so far

Track: Student Information Systems

Session Number: 6523
Date: Fri, Oct 21st, 2022
Time: 1:30 PM - 2:15 PM
Room: Conference 2 A

Description:

Marks for Courses and Activities are most meaningful when the context for the individual student is available.  It is not enough simply to understand how much weighting any activity (element of assessment) contributed to the Course mark.  To support a student, staff need to understand whether any activities were mandatory to pass the course (module), whether any or all activities were resat and when, whether resits were taken ‘in attendance’ or ‘not in attendance’ and whether Extenuating Circumstances were involved.  As well as this, the impact of those course marks on the student’s progress towards their degree needs to be understood.  Each of these can be held in Campus Solutions with Student Records and PEAM, but to be able to display all this to Academic staff in a clear, easy to access way is the challenge!
The University of Nottingham (UoN) have a few reports to display marks and progression and degree outcomes.

This presentation will discuss the problem as well as cover some of the key configuration UoN uses to reflect curriculum, policies and student situation in Campus Solution and show the reports we have made.

(Note this presentation is an updated version of information presented at Alliance in 2021 and 2022.)
