Campus Solutions: the next 10 years

Track: Student Information Systems

Session Number: 6524
Date: Thu, Oct 20th, 2022
Time: 4:30 PM - 5:15 PM
Room: Conference 2 A

Description:

The 3 SaNS institutions in the Netherlands have been using Campus Solutions for over 10 years now. And it looks like CS will remain in use for the next 10 years as well. But the situation has changed: we can't go on like this for another 10 years. CS is part of a complex application landscape and is getting more and more connected. Students have different wishes and demand more flexible study paths. And adequate student advisement is becoming increasingly important.
How will that work with Campus Solutions?
The presentation discusses the choices that must be made in order to benefit from the functional possibilities of CS and the accumulated experience for another 10 years:
- Which (student) processes do you support with CS and for which is it better to use a separate application?
- For which data does CS remain the source system?
- How do you arrange maintenance? With multiple institutions together or alone?
- What will the future be? Can we already start using parts of Student Management (for Lifelong Learning, study planning) and gradually move to the cloud? Or better build a 'New Dutch SIS' because Oracle still doesn't understand that there is a world outside the US?

There are no concrete answers yet, but the questions must be asked.

Yes, our use of Campus Solutions will come to an end, but not today or in the next decade.
